Resources for Individuals and Caregivers

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Minnesota Chapter offers a wide variety of resources for persons with Type 1 Diabetes and their caretakers. Those resources include:

Employee/Individuals Resources

  • Bag of Hope Program: Provides a collection of educational materials and comforting items to a child who has been newly diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.
  • Brochures
  • Monthly email newsletter.
  • Children's Congress: Program where children learn about the legislative process, then put it into action on a trip to Washington D.C.

Caregiver Resources

  • Bag of Hope: Introduces the family of the newly diagnosed to the resources and support available to them by a caring, trained, and compassionate volunteer. The "Bag of Hope" is delivered by a volunteer parent with a child with Type 1 diabetes in an effort to establish a partnering system for the newly diagnosed child, adolescent, and their family.
  • Brochures
  • Monthly email newsletter.
  • Moms Support Group meets each month at different restaurants in the metro area.
  • Online Diabetes Support Team: Volunteers who provide one-to-one support, a sympathetic ear, and practical suggestions.

A charitable gift to CHCM means that David Chakin has been able to receive group support and assistive equipment throughout his journey with multiple sclerosis.
