Resources for Individuals and Caregivers

Hemophilia Foundation of Minnesota/Dakotas offers a wide variety of resources for persons with Hemophilia and their caretakers. Those resources include: 

 

Employee/Individuals Resources

  • Presentations and written materials. 
  • Woman to Woman Initiative offers individual support to women with bleeding disorders.
  • Emergency Assistance Funds for people with hemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders and their families.
  • Camp for children ages 8-17 attend one week of summer camp. Provides children with the opportunity to participate with their peers in activities that include: 
    - Learning about their disease. 
    - Empowering them to better cope with the physical limitations bleeding disorders
       present. 
    - Providing the skills they need to affect their own medical interventions.
  • Scholarships available for high school graduates to attend college, technical/vocational, or university, as well as for family members in the hemophilia community.
  • Quarterly Newsletter, Veinline, contains up-to-date easy-to-understand information about hemophilia and its complications such as HIV/AIDS and hepatitis. 
  • Advocacy brings awareness of the disease and research efforts to the capital.
  • Annual Meeting and Medora Retreat -a retreat for individuals with Hemophilia and their family members that provides an update on research and living with Hemophilia.

 

Caregiver Resources

  • Presentations and written materials.  
  • Support workshops for parents of children with hemophilia.
  • Retreats for couples and families.
  • Quarterly Newsletter, Veinline, contains up-to-date easy-to-understand information about hemophilia and its complications such as HIV/AIDS and hepatitis. 
  • Emergency Assistance Program: small grants provided for hotel rooms, mileage, etc. for families who need to bring their child to the hospital.  
  • Annual Meeting and Medora Retreat ? a retreat for individuals with Hemophilia and their family members that provides an update on research and living with Hemophilia.
  • Parents Empowering Parents: A weekend parenting program which focuses on building skills to most effectively deal with raising children with bleeding disorders.
