Resources for Individuals and Caregivers

The Cancer Kids Fund offers a wide variety of resources for persons with childhood cancer or blood disorders and their caretakers:

 

Employee/Individuals Resources

  • Parties that integrate education for kids into the fun of being a kid.
  • Books relating to their disease.
  • Teen Room: Special room for teens to retreat with music, TV, an aquarium, games, and magazines at Children?s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.
  • Zoomobile: Every other month, creatures from the zoo visit the children.
  • KidStuff Newsletter: Quarterly newsletter for patients and families.

 

Caregiver Resources

  • National Conference: Each year, Cancer Kids Fund sends six families to a national conference for an in-depth look at the most current therapies and research. These families return to present their findings at one of the monthly meetings.
  • KidStuff Newsletter: Quarterly newsletter for patients and families.
  • Overnight accommodations are provided for out-of-state and out-of-metro families whose children must stay in the in-patient unit.
  • Meals, transportation, and parking assistance are provided for families in financial need when their child must stay in the hospital.  
  • Parent-to-Parent program- a parent of a child that has completed therapy meets with the family of a child who is in therapy to share their experiences.
  • Looking to the Future- photographic biographic exhibit of long-term cancer survivors gives hope to families whose children are in treatment.
  • Long distance calling cards are provided to the parents of each newly diagnosed child.
