The Association for Nonsmokers-Minnesota offers the following resources for employers and the community at large:

 

Employer Resources

  • Promotes smoke-free workplaces for all sectors.
  • Assistance in developing workplace policies related to tobacco. 
  • Online resources:
    - A Primer on Developing a Workplace Smoking Policy
    - Questions and Answers about Policies regulating Smoking in the Workplace
  • Presentations:
    - Tobacco Free Youth Recreation program
    - Protecting Kids from Smoke 
  • Health fair participation. 
  • Advocacy for blue-collar and manufacturing workers who remain unprotected from second hand smoke.

 

Community Resources

  • Advocacy supporting smoke-free restaurants to protect the employees as well as patrons.
  • Presentations:
    - Tobacco Free Youth Recreation program
    - Protecting Kids from Smoke 
  • Online restaurant directory of smoke-free restaurants.
  • Works with communities to develop local tobacco ordinances.
  • Initiative to reduce the illegal sale of tobacco to minors.
  • Tobacco-Free Youth Recreation (TFYR), a statewide program which models tobacco-free lifestyles for young people involved in community-based organized recreation programs for youth ages 12 to 17. TFYR helps to:
    - Establish tobacco-free policies for coaches, spectators, and other adults.
    - Create Tobacco-Free Zones.
    - Promote positive health messages from coaches, parents, teens, and other role
       models.

  • Secondhand Smoke Resource Center, a comprehensive set of resources on secondhand smoke and strategies for addressing the problems it causes.
