The Association for Nonsmokers - Minnesota offers a wide variety of resources for persons affected by secondhand smoke. Those resources include: 

  • Free consultation with individuals and landlords.
  • Lease agreement: a smoke-free lease agreement.
  • Online restaurant directory of smoke-free restaurants.
  • Tobacco-Free Youth Recreation (TFYR), a statewide program which models tobacco-free lifestyles for young people involved in community-based organized recreation programs for youth ages 12 to 17. TFYR helps to:
    - Establish tobacco-free policies for coaches, spectators, and other adults.
    - Create tobacco-free zones.
    - Promote positive health messages from coaches, parents, teens, and other role
       models.

  • Secondhand Smoke Resource Center: Comprehensive resource on secondhand smoke and strategies for addressing the problems it causes.



 

Odds are you know Somebody

In 2003, Ruth Bachman (pictured with her granddaughter) was diagnosed with cancer.  Her hand and forearm were amputated that June.  "It is important to put a face on cancer and chronic illness.  I'm grateful to be that face for CHCM."
