The mission of The ALS Association, Minnesota Chapter, is to lead the fight to cure and treat ALS through global cutting-edge research and to empower people with Lou Gherig's Disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.

ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease is a degenerative disease of the central nervous system, characterized by the death of the motor neurons.  This results in a gradual, progressive wasting away of voluntary muscles, often leading to total paralysis.  The average life expectancy after diagnosis is usually two to five years.  Contributions to the ALS Association are used for research, education, and patient services.
