Melpomene Institute for Women's Health Research offers the following resources for employers and the community at large:
Employer Resources
- "Taking Time to Move - Finding Balance through Strength and Movement" - a series of twelve one-hour sessions of information, movement, and support for women at their place of employment. Specifically for women in the workforce, this program on physical activity includes a detailed curriculum and a participant resource manual.
- Presentations:
o How physical activity can influence physical and mental health.
o Physical activity related to a particular life stage including: stress, body image, aging, pregnancy, chemical dependency, raising fit kids, etc.
o Historical/hysterical perspectives of women in sports.
o Self-esteem and physical activity in adolescent girls.
o How to fit physical activity into your family's daily life.
- Speakers
Community Resources
- Research grants: An annual $7,000 competitive grant. Dollars shared by student and faculty advisor.
- Advocacy: Endorses legislation that includes physical education and health education as a way of developing healthier youth.
