President - Lupus Foundation of Minnesota (LFM)

 

The Lupus Foundation of Minnesota (LFM), a Minneapolis based nonprofit charitable organization that serves constituents of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota, seeks a qualified, experienced candidate for President.

Reporting to the board of directors, the President provides strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the Foundation's eight paid staff and numerous volunteers. LFM has an annual budget approaching $1M. Direct reports include VP-Client Programs and VP-Development.

 

OUR MISSION STATEMENT:

We serve those affected by lupus, raise awareness and fund research in an ongoing effort to improve the lives of others. 

 

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership: In cooperation with the board of directors, provide a vision for the future. Implement the board-approved strategic plan. Lead the day-to-day operations of the staff, board members, volunteers and other constituents. Hire, supervise, and evaluate staff.

Fundraising: Secure funding for the mission and goals of LFM.

Community Relations: Cultivate positive and productive relationships in the community. Serve as an advocate for the mission and those affected by Lupus.

Program Direction: Direct all programs carried out by staff, volunteers and partners to assure outcomes consistent with the board's expectation for success, quality, and ethical standards. The president will provide strategic direction, executive support and tactical oversight in developing and implementing new technology initiatives. These new initiatives will include content and contact management systems, reporting systems, and other mission-critical applications as appropriate in a significantly web-based, technology-driven environment.

Marketing: Develop and execute integrated marketing programs.

 

RECOMMENDED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven leadership experience
  • Refined written and verbal communications skills
  • Passion for LFM's mission
  • Demonstrated project and people management experience
  • Solid understanding of related IS technologies and web-based applications
  • Experience with various aspects of fund raising and development
  • Working familiarity with budgets, audits, financial reports
  • Strong regard for the role of a board of directors and the governance process
  • Keen sense for the importance of organization planning
  • Professional confidence

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful applicant should have at least a bachelor's degree in a related field and significant related executive/leadership experience. Experience with nonprofits or related entities are helpful but not required.
