Community Health Charities Minnesota Opening – CORPORATE RELATIONS INTERN

The CHCM Corporate Relations Intern will provide insight and support to the Corporate Relations Team and offer a high level of interaction with local employers of varying size and industry in the public and private sector.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Account management: Manage the relationship and fundraising activity for 25 corporate partners and assist Corporate Relations team with various priority accounts
  • Conduct phone calls and/or meetings with current corporate partners, independently and with senior Corporate Relations staff
  • Represent CHCM, answer questions and provide on-site assistance at workplace giving events and volunteer activities as requested
  • Package and process campaign/fundraising materials
  • Track campaign activities in database and internal tracking tools
  • Learn about trends in corporate charitable activity
  • Provide ideas on other services that may benefit clients

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; ability to network; ideal candidate will have communications and/or management academic focus
  • Professional and mature presentation; ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a professional setting
  • Extremely detail-oriented and organized
  • Sales and/or customer service experience
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects in a fast pace environment
  • Confident, motivated self-starter
  • Must be computer proficient (Microsoft products)
  • Must have access to a vehicle

TIMEFRAME

20-30 hours per week (M-F).

Mid-July through December 2012

Monthly stipend and mileage/parking reimbursement will be provided.

College credit provided upon request.

MARCH OF DIMES OPENING – State Director of Development

Position Purpose
Direct and oversee all chapter fundraising efforts and activities to meet budgeted financial goals and to recruit and develop necessary volunteers and staff, organizations, and associations to implement fundraising activities. In some chapters this position may not cover event fundraising, which may be managed by a specialized position. Participate as an active member of the chapter management team.

Position Responsibilities
• Develop, with staff and volunteers, a plan and schedule for chapter fundraising campaign/events to meet financial goals. This includes developing income and expense budgets, event logistics, volunteer recruitment, event evaluation/assessment, etc.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key corporate and civic community leaders, organizations and associations.
• Strategically plan new ways of achieving chapter financial goals.
• Recruit and develop volunteer leadership
• Market sponsorship opportunities to the corporate community.
• May hire, direct, train and supervise fundraising staff.
• Work with program staff and volunteers to ensure that every event contains program content to enhance the knowledge of the audience and general public regarding the March of Dimes mission, programs, special services and benefits for mothers and babies.
• Oversee the use of foundation data systems by fundraising staff for managing and monitoring events.

Qualifications Required
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination education and experience.
• 5 – 7 years of directly related work experience for medium chapters.
• Experience in fundraising, event planning, corporate sponsorship recruitment, budgeting, volunteer and staff management.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must possess problem solving, planning, implementation, organization, leadership, and teambuilding skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Must be able to use a printer, telephone, copier and fax machine.
• Must be able to lift and carry boxes.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be able to travel by car or plane to meetings.
• Must successfully pass a credit and criminal background check.
